Temple Run 2 is the successor to the original Temple Run which was a phenomenal game that basically gave birth to an entire genre of video games known as ‘endless runner’ games. Like its predecessor, it delivers its players an incredibly addictive and thrilling experience that will make them want to hit the replay button over and over again until they can get a really high score that they can be proud of.

Perhaps the best part about Temple Run 2 is that, like its predecessor, it’s really easy to figure out and get the hang of. The control scheme is fairly straightforward as it mostly consists of swiping in one of the four directions and tiling the device from time to time to navigate through tunnels and that’s pretty much it. You’ll be able to get the hang of the controls in mere minutes and will then be on your way to scoring some serious points.

The objective of Temple Run 2 is to of course get as far as possible before crashing, drowning or getting caught by the crazy guardians that will chase you to the ends of the earth. The mechanics are fairly straightforward as well. If you run off a ledge you die, if you run into a wall you die, if you miss a jump you die so basically even the smallest mistake means that you have to play from the very start. You’ll also have to avoid the bumps on your path as well because running into a bump can slow you down and if you run into two consecutively then the guardians will catch up to you.

The best part about Temple Run 2 is that it offers multiple different characters for the players to choose from. There are the usual in-game characters but there are even a lot of special characters that have been based on real life personalities for example Usain Bolt who is currently the fastest man alive. Bear in mind that the character change is purely visual so don’t expect to rack up a really high amount of points simply because you picked a new character.

In terms of visuals, Temple Run 2 is definitely one of the better looking endless runners out there that you can play on your mobile. It features some really nice textures, detailed environments, delightful special effects and much more. The sound effects also blend in really nicely with the whole temple/mystery theme so overall the game is an absolute delight to look at/listen to.

As for micro-transactions, you’ll be able to use real world money to get your hands on the unlockable in-game characters.

Temple Run 2 is a very fun game and does an excellent job of filling in the shoes of its renowned predecessor.
